The Rebuild

A New Site in March, Then Steady Building

In fall 2025 the old site showed up in Google through 23 pages, and its homepage did nearly all the work: 132 of the 143 page-level clicks from Aug 16 – Nov 5.

The rebuilt site went live in March 2026, and we have kept building it since. It now holds 10 service pages, 10 service-area pages for the towns around Wichita, and 42 local guides we write for the site, from what tree removal costs in Wichita to the best time to prune in Kansas. The header carries a free-estimate button on every page.

Same Dates, a Year Apart

Every 2025 figure is the old site and every 2026 figure is the rebuilt one. Comparing the same dates a year apart holds the season constant, which matters for seasonal work like tree care.

Windows: Aug 16 – Nov 5 and October, each against the same dates a year earlier, captured November 7, 2026 from Google Search Console[1]. Search Console's data for this site begins Aug 16, 2025, and no window reaches past it. Six-month comparison: Nov 7, 2025 – May 7, 2026 vs May 8, 2026 – Nov 5, 2026. The earlier window already includes the rebuilt site's first eight weeks, so it understates the change.

What Could Be Flattering These Numbers

A results page worth quoting audits itself. Five things to weigh beside the multiples:

  1. 1
A small starting base. In October 2025 the old site earned 1,335 impressions and 51 clicks. Multiples on a small base run large, which is why the raw counts sit beside every ratio, and why the click multiple, 2.8×, is the conservative read.
  2. 2
Visibility is not rank. The site now shows up for 3.4× as many searches, and many of them enter low. The top query by impressions, stump grinding near me, sits at position 58, where almost nobody clicks.
  3. 3
Many new clicks are readers. The guides we write earned 145 of the rebuilt site's page-level clicks from Aug 16 – Nov 5. Someone asking when to prune in Kansas is not always hiring this week.
  4. 4
No calls, jobs, or revenue. The client doesn't share call logs or job counts, so this page claims none. Google Analytics doesn't cover the 2025 window, so visitors aren't compared either.
  5. 5
Google changed too. Google widened its AI answers during 2026, and AI-answer impressions grew on every site we measure. We credit the rebuild and the pages we have added since as a whole, not any single change.
Methodology

How We Measure

Impressions, clicks, and position follow Google's definitions[1]. An impression is a link to the site shown in results. Position is the site's topmost spot for a query, averaged over the window. This page shows it only per query, because a site-wide average moves whenever the mix of searches changes, not only when rankings do.

Every comparison uses the same dates a year apart, inside the data Search Console holds for this site. The launch date is read from that data rather than recalled: the rebuilt site's URLs first earn impressions on Mar 13, 2026, and the old site's gallery page last appears on Mar 19, 2026.

Clicks appear two ways, and each figure says which: property totals (355 in the 2026 window) and page-level totals (363), which Search Console counts slightly differently.
